Over the last couple of years, and especially the most recent. I’ve seen people come and go.
I’ve seen communities grow strong and others crumble.
Our Minecraft server had a great run, where it was packed with nice and friendly people.
Each person, adding their own personality into the server and community, making it what it is today.

Meeting everyone was a privilege, something most people don’t get. I have learnt a lot, and have gained a lot from being with them.
Each minute I wish I could turn back the clocks and go back to where it was before.
But in life, nothing is easy.

It has come to a point where I cannot afford the Server, and it seems that this business is taking over my life.
For a long time, I’ve had to stay and look after it, as oppose to being able to afford to go out with my friends.
I’ve made many sacrifices to make it where it stood, but how many more can I commit myself to?

I understand that people want to help, by pitching in. Personally I am touched by this. But looking realistically, things like that don’t last. It is only a matter of time before we come back to this very point.

A solution that many people have approached me with, is to create a “Donator” rank. But isn’t that what I am morally against? Making a rank, where people who haven’t even earned the right can access commands. Its almost like favoritism, and I despised the servers that restricted the normal, loyal players, just for not donating.

I myself don’t have time for this anymore, I have a career to work towards and things to achieve.
But I wanted to thank everyone that is here to read this, and thank them for being with me to the very end.
You are the people that made playing this game, along with others special.

When the server issue is sorted and comes back on there will be 4 new Moderators.
These will receive their rank then. Mainly, due to the fact there is no facility to do so now.

These ranks, like any rank aren’t set in stone. If people cannot respect their position it will be stripped from them, and given to someone more worthy.

I am also sorry to those who didn’t get it. This was one of the toughest decisions my colleagues and I had to undertake.
If the server fills up in the future, there will always be more chances to apply!

And to those individuals, you will be trained to use all the tools and commands. So stay active on TeamSpeak when the server is sorted! :)

Well,  after trying to reboot the server 8 different ways over the course of 2 days.
I eventually booted it with KVM. Those who know about computers / servers, would know that this has a java vnc viewer.
Anyways, with this could see the server starting up etc, before it was logged in and accessible through rdp.

Whenever the server loads windows, it would error and give the “Blue Screen of Death”.
This in itself shows a hardware issue, so I am currently awaiting information for a new dedi box so we can get craftin’ again.

I am sorry for  any inconvenience, this is not something in my hands. If it was, well it would have been fixed by now.

Server upgrade has finally been completed!!
In the absence of the server I decided to have a look around at others. I was bewildered by the lack of community on many of them. I was ignored by many Admins and people when all I wanted to say was “Hi”.

I guess, I feel lucky, that even with a small amount of active players, people are nice and appreciate the company of others. I actually feel privileged to be a part of this community. Over the course of the time I started this Minecraft Server, I have met many different people. Some nice, some not. But I am glad, it is the nice ones that stayed.

However, many servers had nice infrastructures, and basic ideas which work quite well. Like a tutorial section, where it becomes a quiz or puzzle of facts provided by a series of signs in an orderly fashion.
But should we have the same? Or something different?
Please leave an answer below, so we (as Admins) know what ‘you’ want with the server.

Minecraft Server will be down for 6 hours from this post, we are transferring the files, to a new VPS!

This time, there will be no lag if there was before. And that makes our clients happy, no lag for them either!

Everyone’s happy! So be patient and wait the 6 hours, whilst we get this sorted, up and running for some awesome fun!

On the Minecraft Server we have our ranking system, where if you play for a while you attain footman, then squire. I don’t want to change the names, or the permissions. Just want to get a bit more traffic on the site, ‘cos lets be honest it isn’t quite achieving its potential.
So, i think we should allow people to become footman as normal, but squire I think they have to be active on the forums as well as on the server.

Just my opinion, feel free to post you views.

Finally Jon and I have cracked our issue with regards to our MySQL issue related to our Minecraft Server. On too many occasion, the old ‘stick and bone’ tool caused the server to crash. This was caused by the server overloading itself to read a flat file, in this case a ‘.yml’ file, which would in essence ‘pause’ the server in order to fulfill its task.

Now, with MySQL, there is no such ‘lag’. It is loaded from a MySQL Database, which is essentially a bunch of tables to store data, with no such demand over the Minecraft server.
Thanks to this, we have now got the plugin ‘LogBlock’ which allows a magical thing called ‘rollback’. This ‘rolls’ back any placing or destroying of a block to a certain time and can be specific to a player. So, we can say bye to admin slave-labour due to griefers!

Now, many of you may have noticed we now have a 120 slot server. Well, we recently have allocated more RAM, due to a clean-up of game servers from the box. And, we have plans, great plans. But, thats for you to find out, and I cannot be asked to type them.
